Home Carpet in Storage Hunters: Where to Find It & Value

Updated 2026-09-09 ยท Last verified 2026-09-09 ยท Roblox Storage Hunters: Open World

The Home Carpet is a $20.69 Uncommon item from the Back Alley auction pool, and it exists for one job: Mike's Jailbreak Supplies quest asks for it, alongside a Spoon. Nothing sells it and no quest hands it over, so the only documented way to get one is to keep winning Back Alley containers until it drops.

Two things catch people out. The carpet does not count toward the Back Alley item index, so hunting it will never move your Collection Book counter. And Jailbreak Supplies itself pays nothing: the reward is listed as None, and the money arrives on the follow-up quest, Dig Mike Out of Jail, worth +7% permanent Luck.

How to get the Home Carpet

Back Alley is the second area on the map and unlocks at $750 net worth, so most players can reach it within their first session. It has two garages: the Shop Front ($5 entry) and the Camo Shop Front ($10 entry, $3,000 net worth). The carpet is in the general Back Alley pool, so either lot can produce it, and it is not tied to the weapon-heavy Camo Shop Front. Full entry fees and net worth gates are on the areas page.

There is no shortcut. The Back Alley data module lists 128 entries, and the carpet is one Uncommon among them, so this is a volume problem: bid on cheap Shop Front lots repeatedly rather than saving up for one expensive container. The Spoon half of the quest is easier, a $0.25 Junk item from the Junk Yard starter pool.

One quirk worth knowing: because the carpet carries the excludeFromIndex flag, it sits in that 128-entry module without adding to the Back Alley Collection Book the way the other entries do. It is the Back Alley twin of the Mechanic's Box, the Junk Yard quest item covered on the quests page.

How much Luck do you need?

No Luck requirement is documented. The Fandom item page carries a single trivia line: "Setting Luck to 95% reportedly helps with finding it, per user-confirmed reports." That is community-reported and unconfirmed, and the source does not explain what "setting Luck to 95%" refers to; no Luck slider or Luck target is documented anywhere in the game data. Treat it as folklore rather than a threshold.

What Luck actually does is raise the chance of rare items and mutations in auction containers. If you want more of it before a Back Alley grind, these are the documented sources:

Luck sourceAmountCost

Note that the carpet is Uncommon. Luck pushes results toward rarer finds, so stacking a +300% drink to chase a low-rarity item is not obviously the right spend. Diamonds are usually better placed in base upgrades, and the overall spending order is on the guide.

Mike's Jailbreak Supplies quest

Mike sits in the Jail at the Police Station, part of the Police Update, and later appears in the Back Alley running a repeatable Bank heist.

OrderQuestRequirementsReward

2Dig Mike Out of JailDig Mike out+7% Luck

That +7% is permanent, not a timed drink buff. Together with Bobby's five quests (+12%) and Terry's Fix Bobby's Truck (+4%), Mike's line is part of the +23% permanent quest Luck that the quests page identifies as the only permanent Luck in the documented quest data. It is the strongest reason to bother with a $20.69 rug at all.

What the Home Carpet sells for

Cheap items get a large Markup so they do not round down to nothing, which is why the carpet sells for well above its listed base value. Using the value formula published on the items page, a $20.69 base gives a Markup of about 3.008 and a condition floor of about 0.272. Calculated values, rounded:

ConditionUngraded2 Star (135%)3 Star (200%)
100%$62.23$84.02$124.47
70%$48.64$65.66$97.27
50%$39.57$53.42$79.15
0%$16.91$22.83$33.83

These are calculated from the documented formula, not values quoted on the source wiki. A Dirty carpet multiplies by 0.8x on top; washing removes that and can add Pure or Spotless. Selling straight to Rick Harrison at the Shopping Mall Quick Sell counter uses a random rate that refreshes every 5 minutes, so the shelf is worth more if you are not in a hurry.

Do not sell your only carpet before Jailbreak Supplies is complete. Favourite it in your inventory and the game warns you before an accidental sale.

Placing it on your base, and other rugs

Any owned item can be placed as decor, and the carpet is one of the cheapest floor pieces available early. It has no documented effect on selling speed, customer offers or Luck; only Gavel Trophies have a documented placement effect. Pick-up and layout advice sits on the base house page.

No colour, rarity or seasonal variants of the Home Carpet are documented. If you want a different floor covering, these come from other area pools:

ItemBase valueRarityArea
Bath Mat$4UncommonJunk Yard
Home Carpet$20.69UncommonBack Alley
Warning Rug$28UncommonPower Plant
Beach Mat$110UncommonLucky Beach
Beach Rug$725RareLucky Beach

The Warning Rug doubles as a Restore The Plant Tier 1 part (2 required), so it is worth holding rather than placing if the Engineer's line is still open.

Frequently asked questions

How much Luck do you need for the Home Carpet in Storage Hunters?

No Luck threshold is documented. The Fandom item page's only note is that "setting Luck to 95% reportedly helps with finding it, per user-confirmed reports", which is community-reported and unconfirmed, and the source does not explain what setting Luck to 95% means. The Home Carpet is an Uncommon, the second-lowest rarity after Junk, so volume of Back Alley containers matters more than any Luck stat.

Where do you find the Home Carpet in Storage Hunters?

In Back Alley auction containers. Back Alley opens at $750 net worth and its two garages are the Shop Front ($5 entry) and the Camo Shop Front ($10, $3,000 net worth). There is no shop that sells the carpet and no quest that hands it to you, so winning Shop Front lots is the only documented route.

What is the Home Carpet used for?

Mike's Jailbreak Supplies quest, which asks for a Spoon and a Home Carpet. That quest's listed reward is None; the payout is the follow-up quest, Dig Mike Out of Jail, worth +7% permanent Luck. Outside the quest the carpet is ordinary decor you can place on your plot.

Does the Home Carpet count toward the Back Alley collection book?

No. It carries the excludeFromIndex flag in the Back Alley item data, so collecting it does not move the Back Alley index counter. It is one of two documented quest-only items handled this way, alongside the Mechanic's Box in the Junk Yard pool.

Is the Home Carpet worth selling in Storage Hunters?

Only after Mike's quest is done. At $20.69 base value the markup formula lifts a clean ungraded carpet to roughly $62, which is small money once Back Alley is behind you. Keep one in your inventory until Jailbreak Supplies is complete, then sell it or place it as decor.

Are there other carpets in Storage Hunters?

There is only one Home Carpet, with no colour or rarity variants documented. Other floor coverings exist in different area pools: the Bath Mat ($4, Junk Yard), the Warning Rug ($28, Power Plant), the Beach Mat ($110) and the Beach Rug ($725, both Lucky Beach).
